About The Position

The Engineering Technician supports the engineering and SDI business unit teams in launching, sustaining, and improving products and manufacturing processes. This role conducts hands‑on testing, measurement, troubleshooting, training and documentation to ensure product quality, manufacturability, and compliance with specifications and customer requirements. Acts as a key link between engineering, production, quality, key channel partners and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Technology or equivalent Military/Technical training or High School Diploma.
  • Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, torque tools; reading prints and GD&T basics.
  • Familiarity with test setups, fixtures, and safe machine operation.
  • Comfortable with Excel/Sheets for data logging and charting.
  • 2–5 years supporting product or manufacturing engineering in a production environment (prototype to production helpful) preferred.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to learn, and problem-solving skills.
  • Government/military administrative past work with EAR, ITAR, DFAR knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; lift/push/pull fine motor skills/tasks; use of PPE.
  • Work in production and office settings.

  • Prototype to production experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications; verify conformance using appropriate measurement tools.
  • Executes multiple project schedules and raises issues to meet project deadlines.
  • Initiates and processes Engineering Change Orders (EO)/Business processes and obtains the necessary approvals.
  • Support the creation and revision of Standard Work, Work Instructions, and Procedures: ensure documents reflect current practice.
  • Coordinate product tests, interpret results, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Coordinate prototypes of product builds with Model Shop, Production, and Suppliers: document build issues and propose practical fixes.
  • Troubleshoot issues on the line (e.g., fit, form, function, test failures); escalate with clear problem statements and data.
  • Track and manage samples, parts, and nonconforming material (NCMR) as required.
  • Support supplier component evaluations, incoming inspections, and part qualification as needed.
  • Provide on‑the‑floor training or guidance to operators on new processes or revisions (with engineer oversight).
  • When needed, provide product technical training to key channel partners and outside sales representatives.
  • Contribute to project timelines by providing accurate status updates, risks, and resource needs.
  • Ability to understand and interpret customer drawings and specifications, working in customer portals, following procedures for governmental customer flow downs, shelf-life requirements, surveys, packaging requirements, mil specs, origin/destination inspections, part marking and deciphering solicitation/clauses and modifications.
