About The Position

This is a field position that requires out-of-town assignments, including working 6–7 days per week and staying in hotels for extended periods. All travel expenses are covered for out-of-town assignments. Even though this is a full-time position, there may be down periods due to project scheduling and weather, including reduced hours or possible layoff during the winter months. Typically, a Field Technician works a full year (2080 hours) within a nine-month construction season.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • At least 6 months of relevant experience in CQA and/or field-based positions
  • Good communication, writing, and organization skills
  • Ability to use basic computer applications like Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds required
  • Valid driver’s license, including the ability to pass a motor vehicle review (MVR)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities, including field inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liners.
  • Supervise and complete construction quality assurance and construction quality control activities in several states, including the construction of landfill components and other environmental control systems.
  • Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
  • Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection results.
  • Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Weaver Project Manager.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards.
  • Under close supervision of higher-level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Communicate information to the Project Manager and discuss the accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
  • Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Progressively assume increased roles of training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Follow safety rules, practices, and other safety requirements for all projects.
  • Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
  • Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
