About The Position

The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team dedicated toward accomplishing Ducks Unlimited’s (DU) mission. The successful applicant will assist a regional team to deliver wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects in Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisianna, Alabama, and Tennessee. This unique position is structured specifically for a current student with some time remaining in their degree. The role offers full-time hours during the summer and transitions into a flexible, part-time schedule during the school year, providing a direct pathway to graduation with extensive, hands-on engineering experience.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technology Degree Program with no more than twelve (12) months remaining until graduation.
  • Experience and knowledge in surveying techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with public and private conservation partners.
  • Demonstrated oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate ATV and outboard boats in various environments.
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, willingness to work independently, willingness to travel out of town and overnight on a regular basis, ability to work in inclement weather, and ability to work with minimal supervision in remote work environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as DU’s representative on construction projects, while performing a variety of inspections to verify contractor’s compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain project records.
  • Be responsible for the operation of various surveying equipment to assist with construction surveys.
  • Assist Regional Engineer(s) and other Technician(s) with a variety of administrative duties.
