About The Position

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team, supporting the production, testing, and maintenance of our robotics systems. This role will involve a variety of responsibilities, ranging from hands-on work with prototypes and production machines to field support and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced and scrappy environment, enjoys working on diverse projects, and is willing to take on tasks of all sizes. As a Technician at Slip Robotics, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of our technical teams, working closely with Engineering, Production Operations, and Field Support.

Requirements

  • Ability to assemble, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical systems.
  • Mechanical fabrication, welding, soldering, and circuit troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing industrial or technical equipment.
  • Proficiency in using computers for data entry, documentation, and communication.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • Minimum of a 2-year degree in a technical field (Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar).
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time for field support and on-site work.
  • Comfortable performing tasks that may involve bending, reaching, standing, and working on your feet for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Service mentality, positive “can do” attitude, and enthusiasm for team contributions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in robotics, especially in a complex manufacturing or logistics setting.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technology and CNC machine operation for prototyping.
  • Practical experience with testing systems, equipment, or prototypes to validate functionality and performance.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document build processes, tests, and maintenance logs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly, testing, and debugging of robotic prototypes, experiments, and other special projects.
  • Provide backup for on-site troubleshooting, repairs, and technical support at customer locations, with approximately 30% travel expected.
  • Support the mechanical and electrical assembly of robots; conduct rework as needed.
  • Install, operate, and maintain production machines; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Perform general upkeep and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members or operators on system operation and safety procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records of build processes, testing, and repair procedures.
  • Be prepared to support all aspects of operations where necessary, including deliveries and general maintenance.
