About The Position

ISHPI is seeking an Engineering Technician V (on-site) to support the Command and Control (C2) Afloat Integration Support (C2AIS) for the U.S. Coast Guard Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) in Portsmouth, VA.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience with the following:
  • Developed 11 Gold Disks for Nautel Marine Telegraph Transmitters.
  • Evaluated MCU-8 Matrix Control Unit for repair procedure creation.
  • Developed a Engineering solution to replace old Cathode Ray Tube Monitor with a LCD screen.
  • Created a Pinpoint Test routine and manufactured a test jig for National Automated Information System (NAIS) Base Station Power Supply to be used by USCG Electronics Repair Facility (ERF).
  • Fabricated 20 Light Duty Power Supplies in support of Waterfront Operations Product Line.
  • Developed a manufacturing process for replacement circuit boards in the CM-2224 High Frequency (HF) Antenna Coupler.
  • Created a Pinpoint Test routine for Furuno Bearing Pulse Generator.
  • Utilized 3D design and printing to build a test stand to quickly evaluate suspect boards and verify successful repairs.
  • Evaluated Z-Tron equipment from Vessel Transit System (VTS) Lab for test routine creation.
  • Researched equipment requirements and found fit-form-function commercially available and cost effective replacement.
  • Developed 2 Pinpoint Test Routines for subcomponent circuit cards in the SPQ-9B High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS).
  • Developed a Pinpoint Test Routine for Sound Signal CCA.
  • Developed Ball Grid Array (BGA) rework procedure for use on Terma Radar Interface Card.
  • Fabricated custom test cables and connectors for MK110 Circuit Card to be used in testing and schematic creation process.
  • Must have an MTR Technician (MTR) Certification or have held a previous certification and be able to recertify via 2M/MTR inspector.
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, configure, and interface Pinpoint hardware systems and sub-systems into one complete, centralized automated testing console.
  • Develop and interface existing hardware fixtures for automated testing of new circuit card assemblies at the Portsmouth facility and develop and fabricate new test fixtures for testing development and use.
  • Fabricate test jigs in conjunction with reverse engineering of COTS equipment when required.
  • Provide Silver/Gold Disk routines for Coast Guard Owned (CGO) equipment as assigned by C5ISC Portsmouth.
  • Provide analysis of systems, sub-systems, electronic circuit cards, assemblies, and subassemblies to determine feasibility of cost effectiveness.
  • Work with C5ISC Product Lines and Shared Services to research, engineer, develop, and perform technical field changes on C5ISC LAB equipment and systems.
  • Provide test equipment/support equipment inventory including planned maintenance system/calibration requirements.
  • Assist in administrative support such as procurement requests for signature only by government personnel.
  • Provide assistance with administrative services to include maintaining the ACCAS technical library.
  • Assist with property/inventory control management in action with (IAW) Compliance Document ref (a) and (b) and must maintain the property/inventory report.
  • Responsible for Lab equipment maintenance and upkeep to include Pinpoint 2R, Pinpoint Alpha, various test equipment, 2 certified 2M Rework Stations, 2 Gold Disk Development Stations, Engraver, 3D Printer and Accuflo Microblasting Booth.
  • Responsible for Lab Hazardous Material inventory and storage.
  • Responsible for repair parts research and ensuring engineering compatibility.
  • Designed and fabricated stand off mounts for GPS Antenna on LRI-2 and Mk4 OTH Small Boat Units.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to C5ISC labs.
  • Responsible for supporting USCG 2M Inspectors with Shipping and receiving parts, equipment and recert kits required for Inspections and certifications at remote Units.
