About The Position

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide fleet technical services and troubleshooting of Aviation Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems at shore sites and aboard ships. This role involves assisting with installation, repair, calibration, testing, certification, inspection, and monitoring of ALRE equipment. The technician will also provide on-the-job training to Ships Force and prepare technical reports documenting all activities.

Requirements

  • AA and 9+ years of experience required.
  • Experience with ship installed systems, Aviation operations and diagnostics.
  • Experience troubleshooting ship board systems.
  • Active Secret clearance required, with Interim Secret clearance required to start.
  • Familiarization with Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) for trace analysis and fault location, Optical Loss Test Sets (OLTS) for power measurement, and Visual Fault Locators (VFLs) to spot physical breaks.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Aircraft Launch and Recovery Systems and Aviation Support Equipment.
  • Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting of ALRE Systems and Subsystems, including reviewing maintenance publications, evaluating equipment conditions, and identifying/correcting deficiencies.
  • Assisting with the installation, repair, calibration, and testing of ALRE equipment.
  • Providing on the job training to Ships Force.
  • Assisting with the certification and inspection of ALRE equipment in accordance with NAVAIR requirements.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on the repair and overhaul progress of ALRE systems, providing oversight across multiple performing entities.
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of technical reports documenting all technical assistance, troubleshooting, or support activities.
