About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Technician V to provide Program Engineering Services to Commander, Naval Submarine Force Atlantic-COMSUBLANT (TYCOM), Submarine Squadron Six and Eight (CSS-6/8) and Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF New London) Support. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, certification, assessment, and repair of various submarine-related special and support equipment. The technician will maintain equipment in Groton, CT and Norfolk, VA, including but not limited to missile tube loading/handling platforms, weapon cradles, ballast cans, handling equipment, and various specialized trailers and containers. Responsibilities also include maintaining HAZMAT lockers, managing databases of equipment status, supporting shipping and receiving evolutions, and providing technical expertise during handling operations. The position requires adherence to technical manuals, PMS schedules, and local instructions, as well as documenting all maintenance and repairs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years full-time, hands-on design, installation, test, and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic and mechanical systems/equipment.
  • A minimum of 6 years full-time hands-on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of PSSE incorporated in Submarine PSSE Non-Ordnance Handling systems.
  • Specialized Experience shall have been gained within the last 10 years.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and certification of all PSSE equipment, Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans.
  • Assess and perform corrective maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and testing of various weight handling equipment, including slings, hooks, and harness assemblies.
  • Perform blasting and painting of Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms as part of preventive maintenance.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, including replacing hardware, repairing structural components, and addressing corrosion damage.
  • Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance for 688, VA, and Columbia Class platforms according to current directives and technical manuals.
  • Perform Operational Procedures (OP's) on various specialized equipment and containers.
  • Maintain certification by performing required maintenance and minor repairs, and documenting all maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain HAZMAT lockers in accordance with OSHA directives.
  • Maintain a database of PSSE location and maintenance status for Non-Ordnance equipment.
  • Update other Government databases with new information as required.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on Vertical Launch System (VLS) and VPT Loading and Maintenance Platforms.
  • Support all shipping and receiving evolutions for various equipment.
  • Support all handling services (canning, un-canning, moving) for specific equipment, including shipping and receiving.
  • Conduct any required stenciling of containers prior to shipping.
  • Support all testing, installation, and handling services for specific equipment.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on Ballast Cans and AURBb's.
  • Support storage and inventory management of Missile Tube Ballast Cans and AURBb's, including the construction of storage chocks.
  • Support handling and transportation services for Torpedo Mounted Dispensers (TMD) and deck skids.
  • Transport TMD's to and from various naval and contractor facilities.
  • Perform the on-load and off-load of PSSE and non-ordnance equipment to and from trailers, trucks, and submarines.
  • Provide PSSE Non-Ordnance Technical Support on the waterfront during the delivery, loading/off-loading, and storage of applicable PSSE equipment.
  • Provide support to the PSSE handling team during pier evolutions, verifying maintenance and certification of handling equipment.
  • Provide SME support for various handling evolutions and verify equipment preparation for scheduled evolutions.
  • Coordinate Non-ordnance Handling evolutions between relevant commands.
  • Submit weekly Non-ordnance Handling schedules and required forms for handling equipment.
  • Provide assistance with the transportation of hull-owned equipment to/from the waterfront.
