MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS RESIDENT TECHNICIAN - (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN IV)

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Maintenance Contracts Resident Technicians. Requirements
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR seven years of engineering experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- District-wide travel.
- Occasional overtime.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
Nice To Haves
- Successful completion of Documentation of Contract Quantities course and working knowledge of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT’s) iPDWeb (CMMS) program for construction and materials management.
- Working knowledge of the maintenance and/or construction industry.
- Ability to supervise a staff which includes consultants engaged in field engineering functions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervises highway improvements to obtain timely and quality construction in compliance with the plans, special provisions, standard specifications, and acceptable engineering practices.
- Provides appropriate documentation for each phase of project implementation.
- Provides complete and accurate documentation to ensure timely acceptance and finalization of projects.
- Develops effective cooperation between the contractor, the district, and other governmental agencies to facilitate project completion.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
