This position involves organizing, supervising, and inspecting engineering activities and plant operations within the County’s utilities system to ensure compliance with established regulations, codes, and specifications. The role includes supervising assigned staff, administering and reviewing County utility construction projects, researching sewer availability, and overseeing the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities. The position also requires researching and interpreting County ordinances, investigating violations, providing engineering expertise for utility projects, and developing/approving engineering plans and specifications. Coordination with various agencies and parties, representing the department, responding to inquiries, and preparing reports are also key functions. The role may require working outside of regular hours, including on-call duties, holidays, nights, and weekends, and is considered essential during emergencies. General administrative work and continuous professional development are also expected.
