About The Position

This position serves as a project inspector on roadway and structure projects for the Sanford Resident Engineer's Office. The role involves conducting independent moderate to complex inspections, sampling and testing of materials, analysis of engineering-related data, and supervision of lower-level Technicians and CEI Personnel. Additional duties include completing daily diaries, sample cards, asphalt reports, NPDES reports, material received forms, survey notes, and monthly estimates. Work may also include highway construction surveying and layout.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work safely in outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures and construction site hazards such as traffic, heights, and uneven terrain.
  • Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing is required.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Safety Toe Shoes Required.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer employment evaluation.

  • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision
  • Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups
