INDUS provides industrial support services across the Undersea Weapons Department (Code 30), Test and Evaluation Department (Code 20), Undersea Systems & Sustainment Department (Code 40) and Unmanned and Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department (Code 50), of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport (NUWCDIVKPT). Requirements include providing technical support services associated with various industrial operations, depot repair activities, and torpedo intermediate maintenance functions. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Engineering Technician III assembles and disassembles, repairs, cleans, and provides engineering and preventative maintenance to vehicle shells, buoys, and components in support of programs on the NUWCDIVKPT Industrial Support Services (ISS) contract. This position is located in Keyport, WA. This position works a specific shift: Daytime shift (schedule TBD pending government direction); possible swing shift may be required to meet emergent needs (swing shift differential provided).

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • At least four (4) years of experience providing industrial operations support.
  • Must be licensed and certified to operate 6,000 pound electric and diesel forklift and CAT III overhead crane.
  • Must possess ability and experience to operate pallet jack and Big Joe stand-behind pallet lift mechanism.
  • Your ability to receive medical certification (if required).
  • Your ability to obtain and maintain any appropriate licenses and certifications (if required).
  • Must be able to comprehend and execute written and verbal trainings and procedures.
  • Must be able to follow and complete on-the-job training as required: INDOC Training: Positions in the Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) and Torpedo Depot require up front 2-week education and familiarization courses with a follow-on test for comprehension.
  • Basic reading, comprehension, and computer skills (see below) are required.
  • QUALS Training: All positions carry some additional qualifications training against the skillsets of an Engineering Technician.
  • At minimum, in addition to skillsets of an Engineering Technician, basic reading comprehension and computer skills (see below) are required.
  • Must possess ability to operate computers and perform the following functions, including but not limited to: Alphanumeric data entry, spreadsheet review and data entry, capability of switching between computer applications with relative ease.
  • Ability to complete Web-Based training.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Some roles may require employee be occupationally exposed to hazardous substances such as Otto Fuel II, lead, chromium, or cadmium.
  • Some roles may have extended use of PPE and be considered ‘dirty’ jobs, i.e., requiring extensive cleaning of parts.
  • Cross training is used to provide 3-6 months rotations in and out of these roles.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
  • Performs typical duties such as constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment and may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • May cross-train across any engineering technician area in the ISS Contract including but not limited to Torpedo Depot and Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) for 3–6-month rotations.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
