About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Technician II to provide Program Engineering Services to Commander, Naval Submarine Force Atlantic-COMSUBLANT (TYCOM), Submarine Squadron Six and Eight (CSS-6/8) and Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF New London) Support. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, certification, assessment, and repair of various Submarine Peculiar Special & Support Equipment (PSSE), including missile tube loading/handling platforms, weapon cradles, ballast cans, and handling equipment. The technician will also maintain HAZMAT lockers, manage databases of equipment status, and support shipping/receiving evolutions. Additionally, the role requires providing technical support and coordination for non-ordnance handling operations on the waterfront and at various facilities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years full-time hands-on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of PSSE incorporated in Submarine PSSE Non-Ordnance Handling systems.
  • Experience shall have been gained within the last 10 years.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and certification of all PSSE equipment, Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans.
  • Assess and perform corrective maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and testing of various weight handling equipment, including slings, hooks, and harnesses.
  • Conduct blasting and painting of Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms as part of preventive maintenance.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, including replacing hardware, repairing structural components, and addressing corrosion.
  • Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance for 688, VA, and Columbia Class platforms according to current directives and technical manuals.
  • Perform Operational Procedures (OP's) on various equipment such as AURVS's, Missile Tube Ballast Cans, AURES, TOTEMS, and TMD's.
  • Maintain certification by performing required maintenance and minor repairs, documenting all activities.
  • Maintain HAZMAT lockers in accordance with OSHA directives.
  • Maintain a database of PSSE location and maintenance status for non-ordnance equipment.
  • Update other Government databases with new information as required.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on Vertical Launch System (VLS) and VPT Loading and Maintenance Platforms.
  • Support all shipping and receiving evolutions for various equipment.
  • Support handling services (canning, un-canning, moving) for AURVS/AURES, Crew Training Shapes (CTS), TOTEMS, and Torpedo Shapes.
  • Conduct required stenciling of containers prior to shipping.
  • Support testing, installation, and handling services for Mk 101 & Mk 112.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on Ballast Cans and AURBb's.
  • Support storage and inventory management of Missile Tube Ballast Cans and AURBb's.
  • Support handling and transportation services for Torpedo Mounted Dispensers (TMD) and deck skids.
  • Transport TMD's to and from various locations.
  • Perform on-load and off-load of PSSE and non-ordnance equipment to and from trailers, trucks, and submarines.
  • Provide PSSE Non-Ordnance Technical Support on the waterfront during delivery, loading/off-loading, and storage of equipment.
  • Provide support to the PSSE handling team, verifying maintenance and certification of handling equipment.
  • Provide SME support for various handling evolutions and verify equipment preparation.
  • Coordinate Non-ordnance Handling evolutions between relevant commands.
  • Attend weekly pier de-confliction meetings.
  • Submit weekly Non-ordnance Handling schedules.
  • Submit required forms to request handling equipment.
  • Provide assistance with the transportation of hull-owned equipment to/from the waterfront.
