About The Position

This hands-on technical role supports U.S. Navy operations by maintaining, repairing, and deploying towed acoustic arrays used on submarines and surface ships. The position offers a tight-knit, team-oriented environment with autonomy and a visible impact on mission-critical work. The work environment is flexible, allowing for music and a relaxed shop culture, while still maintaining productivity. The day starts with a team sync at 0700, and work rotates between shop tasks, maintenance, and pier-side support, involving both independent work and team collaboration. The schedule can shift based on operational needs, and leadership is supportive, expecting employees to own their work. The team culture is laid-back but focused on meeting strict deadlines, fostering strong friendships.

Requirements

  • Technical training in electronics (trade school, apprenticeship, or military equivalent)
  • 2+ years of experience testing, troubleshooting, or repairing electrical/electronic systems
  • Experience using electronic test equipment and hand/power tools
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Military experience (especially Navy, submarine, or surface fleet)
  • Experience with sonar or related systems (AN/BQQ, SQQ-89, etc.)
  • Fiber optics experience or certification
  • Mechanical aptitude and/or forklift experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair electronic and mechanical components of towed sonar systems
  • Perform inspections and fault isolation on array modules
  • Support system assembly, installation, and removal on submarines and surface ships
  • Work both in the shop and pier-side environments
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, equipment handling, and inventory tracking
  • Operate tools, test equipment, and material handling equipment (including forklifts)
  • Travel (CONUS/OCONUS) as needed to support operational requirements
