The City of Milwaukee is seeking qualified individuals for the roles of Engineering Technician II and IV. These positions are responsible for conducting inspections related to water main replacement, water distribution system repair, and lead service line replacement to ensure compliance with Milwaukee Water Works (MWW) specifications. Candidates who successfully complete the selection process will be placed on the highest-level eligible list for which they qualify. The Engineering Technician IV role involves more comprehensive oversight and coordination of construction projects, including approving materials and communicating with vendors. The Engineering Technician II role focuses on assisting with inspections. Both positions require enforcing construction methods, ensuring safety procedures, inspecting and testing materials, documenting inspections using various methods including GPS, providing customer outreach, ensuring site clean-up, conducting various tests (fire flow, hydrostatic, pressure, torque, weights and measurements), performing hydrant flow tests, inspecting emergency repairs, conducting field investigations, preparing detailed reports, documenting contractor activities, installing and monitoring pressure recording devices, assisting with hydraulic model calibration, and maintaining communication with the Control Center and management.
