About The Position

NCDOT is looking for a highly motivated individual looking for a position with the potential of career advancement. This position will provide all state benefits including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement. This is an Engineering Technician I position located in the Pender County Roadside Environmental Office involving technical work supporting technicians and engineers in construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, erosion control, and construction traffic control. This position requires the performance of a wide variety of standardized and non- standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data. This work involves limited decision making and use of judgment. The successful applicant must perform a full range of calculations and computations. This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. You must perform a full range of calculations and computations and be proficient in record keeping. You do not have to have a degree to qualify for this position. Applicants with at least two years of related experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and /or construction surveying

  • Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
  • At least two years of related experience
