L3Harris is hiring an Engineering Technician to build, integrate, and test photonic components for larger system assemblies. This hands-on position is suited to candidates with experience building, assembling, or testing precision components and a technical foundation in electronics, mechanical systems, optics, or a related field. The role requires interpreting and following technical specifications and using precision equipment. Experience with engineering drawings, detailed procedures, machining equipment, or laboratory and manufacturing environments is relevant. Photonics experience is helpful but not required; on-the-job training is provided in fiber-optic handling, optical alignment, and specialized testing procedures. The technician fabricates, assembles, integrates, tests, and inspects photonic and mechanical components, performs fiber-optic cable connectorization and splicing, and carries out electronic component removal and replacement using soldering techniques. The role also involves integrating commercial off-the-shelf optical equipment, assisting with equipment calibration and preventive maintenance, communicating progress to management, and maintaining an organized workspace and reliable work practices. Work takes place in classified laboratory or high-reliability production environments. The position is located in Palm Bay, Florida, and follows a 9/80 schedule: employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off. An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
