About The Position
This position is represented by Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining. ATS Electric Unit Technicians work with the Electrical Engineers and team members of the ATS Electric Unit to perform field testing, support lab testing activities, and assist with equipment investigations and failure analysis work. This is the entry-level position for hands-on technical engineering work. Work performed at this level will be assigned as required to prepare the employee for advancement to Engineering Technician II. PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the hourly rate range for this position is $45.76 to $59.79, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
Requirements
- An AA degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or its equivalent in education and experience with emphasis on the laboratory procedures, techniques, equipment, and materials involved.
Nice To Haves
- Basic knowledge of electrical testing techniques, test equipment, and materials involved.
- Ability to work safely around electrical hazards and follow the ATS Quality Program and laboratory test procedures.
- 2 years or more of experience as an Electrician, Electric Technician, or similar role.
Responsibilities
- Travel to PG&E facilities in locations throughout the service territory and perform field testing & measurements such as: Substation transformer testing, Operating test equipment (Hi-pot, Megger, Doble, etc.), Ground grid measurements, Ground continuity Testing, Soil resistivity measurements, Substation failure analysis of various electrical components.
- Support onsite electrical testing activities in the high current and high voltage labs.
- Assist with investigations and failure analysis work.
- High voltage and high current lab testing

- Fabricating and setting up test fixtures
- Setting up and operating test yard/labs
- Dismantling, disassembling and disposing of equipment
- Material handling & logistical support
- Lab and test equipment maintenance and calibration
