About The Position

This position is represented by Engineers & Scientists of America (ESC) subject to collective bargaining. ATS Electric Unit Technicians work with the Electrical Engineers and team members of the ATS Electric Unit to perform field testing, support lab testing activities, and assist with equipment investigations and failure analysis work. This is the entry-level position for hands-on technical engineering work. Work performed at this level will be assigned as required to prepare the employee for advancement to Engineering Technician II.

Requirements

An AA degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or its equivalent in education and experience with emphasis on the laboratory procedures, techniques, equipment, and materials involved.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of electrical testing techniques, test equipment, and materials involved.
Ability to work safely around electrical hazards and follow the ATS Quality Program and laboratory test procedures.
2 years or more of experience as an Electrician, Electric Technician, or similar role.

Responsibilities

Perform field testing & measurements such as Substation transformer testing, Operating test equipment (Hi-pot, Megger, Doble, etc.), Ground grid measurements, Ground continuity Testing, Soil resistivity measurements, and Substation failure analysis of various electrical components.
Support onsite electrical testing activities in the high current and high voltage labs.
Assist with investigations and failure analysis work.
Fabricate and set up test fixtures.
Set up and operate test yard/labs.
Dismantle, disassemble and dispose of equipment.
Provide material handling & logistical support.
Perform lab and test equipment maintenance and calibration.
