About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor (ES) is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the Savannah, Statesboro, or Springfield Engineering Team. The successful candidate must live within commutable distance to either the Savannah, Statesboro, or Springfield Operating Headquarters. This job will require up to 25% travel. Relocation benefits may be available.

Requirements

  • Proven commitment and demonstrated focus on Safety.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience with full performance management responsibilities is required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated.
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application.
  • No convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Distribution and/or Transmission experience is preferred.
  • Proven record of dealing effectively with customers is preferred.
  • Cross-functional, cross-company experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing capital and O&M budgets is preferred.
  • Experience with storm response and planning is preferred.
  • Experience with distribution software and support applications is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Articulates complex issues, simply.
  • Leads change effectively.
  • Knowledge of Power Delivery operations and processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of Distribution operations practices and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and a strong team.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize high profile opportunities and respond as needed without prompting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering team in a Safety Excellence environment with a focus on learning how to work safely and how engineering decisions impact the safety of peers and coworkers.
  • Build a culture where team members feel included, valued, and free to speak up.
  • Ensure the development of team members, communicate business goals to the team, and provide performance management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for planning, engineering, design, and construction of all activities in the area.
  • Monitor and guide area-wide Distribution functional budgets, compliance, and system maintenance to ensure reliability.
  • Investigate extended or significant outages as well as timely addressing customer issues that arise.
  • Provide guidance to the team in dealing with customer issues (internal and external) and communicate with upper management about customer issues.
  • Work closely with other functional departments to deliver best in class, customer value, reliability and cost.
  • Support external community activities.
  • Serve in various SERP roles within the area and participate in SERP events across the Southern System and events off system as required.
