About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor is a key leader within the Engineering team, responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical and building systems throughout the resort. This role partners closely with Engineering leadership to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment that supports both guest comfort and associate success. The Engineering Supervisor provides hands-on technical expertise while guiding, mentoring, and supporting team members to uphold Westin’s elevated standards.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, electrical systems, and general mechanical operations.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and support team productivity.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on engineering or mechanical experience, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  • Hospitality or resort experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications.
  • First-class operating engineer license for boilers and air conditioning preferred/required per property standards.

  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive in maintaining safe and efficient operations.
  • Adaptable and composed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to move throughout the property for extended periods, including walking, standing, bending, and climbing.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in varied conditions, including mechanical rooms, outdoor environments, extreme heat (kitchens), and cold environments (freezers).
  • Frequent use of tools, machinery, and equipment requiring manual dexterity.
  • Exposure to noise, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and other operational hazards, with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • May operate vehicles, lifts, and other mobile equipment as required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in alignment with Westin grooming standards.
  • Demonstrate reliability through consistent attendance and leadership presence.
  • Uphold Westin and Marriott standards for safety, service, and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in the maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, pumps, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Assign and prioritize daily work orders, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
  • Monitor building systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with all operational standards.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensure all safety systems are functioning properly and that work is conducted in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to Engineering Technicians and team members.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in training, scheduling, and performance management to support team success.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, safety awareness, and service excellence.
  • Ensure prompt and professional response to guest maintenance concerns, supporting a seamless and restorative stay experience.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support resort operations, events, and special projects.
  • Act as a resource for urgent maintenance needs and operational challenges.
  • Assist Engineering leadership in managing departmental operations, inventory, and vendor coordination.
  • Support preventative maintenance and sustainability initiatives across the resort.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer as needed.
