About The Position

On the Kennedy Propellants and Life Support Services (KPLSS II) program on Kennedy Space Center FL, this position leads and supervises a team of design engineers. This role will be responsible for the upkeep, performance, and reliability of engineering systems and associated operations. The role ensures that all operational and maintenance activities meet technical, safety, and quality standards while supporting organizational objectives and project timelines within KPLSS II, NASA, Space Force, and partner contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 5 years of job-related experience, or equivalent.
  • Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • US citizenship is required for restricted area access.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluation for Design Engineers, ensuring effective workload planning, task assignment, schedule oversight, and delivery of high-quality, compliant engineering products.
  • Lead team meetings and support employee growth through coaching, training, hiring participation, and performance reviews, while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance of technical and specification documents with contractual, government, and program standards.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver technical papers, reports, and engineering studies.
  • Conduct field inspections, site visits, and investigations to diagnose engineering issues and recommend corrective actions or alternative solutions.
  • Apply ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NASA, and KSC codes, standards, and guidelines in engineering work and technical reviews.
  • Coordinate effectively across engineering disciplines, NASA customers, contractors, technicians, project managers, CAD teams, and program leadership through clear written and verbal communication.
  • Maintain Design Engineer readiness by ensuring required training, certifications, procedural accuracy, and adherence to Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices and site safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
