About The Position

The Engineering Student role is a 4-month term position starting in January 2027, within PCL Constructors Canada Inc.'s Canadian Buildings sector in Ottawa. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on real construction projects, develop in-demand skills through mentorship and PCL's College of Construction, and build connections through student and networking events. Requirements

• A passion for working in a construction environment.
• Experience with the application of various computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
• Self-motivation with a hands-on approach.
• Working towards a degree or diploma in a civil engineering related field.

Nice To Haves

• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conducts deficiency walks.
• Coordinates and supervises sub-trade work.
• Coordinates quality assurance reviews.
• Takes and coordinates progress photos.
• Tracks site progress and deficiencies.
• Verifies site conditions and coordinates with drawings.
• Coordinates, marks up and updates drawings.
• Coordinates work specific scope and trades.
• Conducts trade quote reviews by verifying material quantities, hours, and rates.
• Inputs and updates deficiency logs.
• Participates in project meetings.
• Performs quantity take-offs.
• Produces as-built drawings.
• Sets-up and maintains record keeping.
