The Engineering Specialist – CDT+R plays a critical role in Trojan’s Customer Defect Tracking & Resolution initiative. This position ensures that field performance data, service issues, and returned product findings are translated into meaningful, end-to-end improvements across Engineering, Service, Quality, and Operations. This role goes beyond technical analysis by owning the full lifecycle of issue resolution—from initial detection and root cause validation through corrective action, verification, and deployment into standard work. Acting as a technical integrator, you will ensure that real-world field experience continuously improves product reliability, engineering standards, verification strategies, and operational processes. This position is part of the Engineering department, located in London, Ontario, and will follow a onsite work arrangement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Experience in product development, verification/validation, field support engineering, or reliability analysis
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting field data, service reports, or returned product analyses
  • Strong analytical skills with proven root cause investigation experience
  • Familiarity with Design FMEA, verification testing, and engineering change management processes

Responsibilities

  • Leading technical triage of escalated field issues, service reports, and returned products to identify systemic patterns and risks
  • Driving cross-functional resolution of field issues across Engineering, Service, Quality, and Operations
  • Defining root causes and coordinating countermeasure development, validation, and verification
  • Translating field learnings into design improvements, updated verification strategies, and stronger engineering standards
  • Partnering with Verification & Validation teams to enhance test methods, boundary conditions, and acceptance criteria
  • Ensuring corrective actions are implemented, standardized, and sustained across engineering, service, and operational processes
  • Communicating status, risks, and outcomes through structured forums such as CDT+R
  • Supporting Design FMEA updates and risk mitigation activities based on real-world performance insights
