The Engineering Shop Manager is a key role within the American Rheinmetall Engineering team focused on ensuring that Rheinmetall prototypes are produced on-time, Laboratory spaces are properly supported, shipping & receiving and warehouse management is accurately and efficiently executed, and shop safety training and procedure are implemented. This role involves planning and managing Engineering Shop Resources, including machine shops, vehicle high-bays, electrical fabrication, test cells, and armor coupon fabrication. The manager will also plan and manage the manufacture, build, modification, assembly, integration, and check-out of prototype vehicle platforms. Additionally, they will develop requirements, layout plans, and maintenance plans for the AR Engineering Shop and Lab Facilities, manage shop warehouse functions, and oversee inventory, GFP Inventory, Armory Storage, and Material handling equipment. A significant part of the role includes managing Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) per contractual standards and supporting USG GFE audits. The manager will collaborate with internal customers, partners, and teammates to integrate subsystems into prototype vehicles, develop and implement safety protocols, and support development and test labs. They will manage and execute Engineering Work Orders, establish relationships to transition Rheinmetall prototype platforms from Europe to the US, monitor workloads, and adjust staffing levels. The role also involves leading build planning, performance measurement, identifying and procuring special tools and equipment, establishing relationships with support functions, supporting material orders, developing bid estimates, conducting shakedown testing, developing department procedures, controlling large-scale project planning and financial expenditures, assisting in the development of build work instructions, performing inspections, managing engineering change notices, and assisting in the development of qualification test plans. The manager will provide final approval of Technical Documents and Safety Statements and adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations. Travel up to 10% is required, with occasional travel to Europe. The role has direct reports for all Shop Staff.
