Their operations span four provinces: Moncton (centre of excellence for indoor cannabis cultivation, R&D, and advanced automation), Lac-Supérieur (premium flower and traditional hash production), Winnipeg (edibles and beverage manufacturing), Aylmer (infused pre-roll production and automated vape filling), and London (packaging and distribution). Each engineering project manager will provide support to the Moncton and Lac Superieur leadership teams in both project engineering and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, displays complex problem solving and decision-making abilities, has excellent organizational and communication skills and can function well both in an autonomous and team environment. The successful candidate possesses strong technical skills in project management, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, as well as interpersonal skills working with cross-functional teams to improve results. The Engineering Project Manager II role represents an intermediate level within the project management career path. This position is responsible for projects of greater complexity and impact, requiring a well-developed technical skillset and minimal oversight. It serves as a progression toward Project Manager III, which leads high-complexity, multi-area initiatives and demonstrates advanced leadership capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, operations management or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in project/process management of significant complexity and value
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Engineering and Operations in KPI driven roles involving Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Project Management
  • Has Lean Manufacturing training and/or experience
  • Knowledge of an ERP/MRP system and mastery of IT tools such as Excel, Access D365, CAD
  • Highly autonomous/self-driven
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously develop and apply leadership skills in complex environments
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving
  • An analytical mindset
  • Strong sense of urgency in meeting deadlines
  • Ability to handle projects with multiple work streams both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage several projects of varying complexity at one time
  • Has specialization in at least one area (ie. packaging, cultivation, extraction, etc.) and developing specialization in other area(s)
  • Support manufacturing processes through all lifecycle stages including conception, design, execution, commissioning, optimization and troubleshooting
  • Lead CAPEX project planning and execution ensuring budget, schedule, safety, regulatory and quality requirements are met
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives to increase profitability, reduce waste, improve efficiency and enhance product quality
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain and other departments to provide technical support, incl. troubleshooting, providing training, data analysis/collection, etc.
  • Developing online tools to improve workflow, data extraction, etc.
  • Research, select, and install process equipment, often in collaboration with the organization’s Research & Development department
  • Design, sourcing, and implementation of fixtures, jigs, go/no-go gauges, Poke Yokes, sensors, etc. that reduce cost, eliminate failure modes, and optimize production rates.
  • Hands on duties including assisting with production activities and assembling equipment
  • Reduce Occurrence and improve Detection of failure modes by leveraging PFMEA methodology. Analyze equipment malfunctions and failures accordingly based on root-cause analysis (i.e. 5-why) and develop and implement Corrective Actions.
  • Support the development of preventative and predictive maintenance criteria.
  • Develop technical documentation related to existing products, processes and equipment
