About The Position

We are currently seeking a talented and dynamic water/wastewater engineer to join our team and drive business development efforts. This role is ideal for a licensed professional engineer who is energized by relationship-building, strategic outreach, and identifying new opportunities. While you'll understand the design process deeply, your primary purpose is to drive business development, strengthen client relationships, and position the firm for long-term success. Additionally, you'll provide mentorship and support staff development of our growing team of engineers and design professionals; lending design and project management expertise to bolster project quality and facilitate a culture of innovation and excellence in design. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented, collaborative professional, with strong interpersonal engagement and communications skills. The selected incumbent will work with teams across multiple offices and design disciplines; which requires a strong commitment to inclusion and clear communication.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with a Professional Engineer license
  • 10+ years of experience in water and/or wastewater engineering, with experience in developing client relationships
  • Strong understanding of the design and construction process
  • Strong project management skills – particularly with larger initiatives including system consolidation and comprehensive long-term infrastructure solutions
  • Experience in working with Texas municipal governments, and a clear understanding of the grant funding process for infrastructure
  • Demonstrated track record in mentoring and developing staff and teams
  • Exceptional communication, networking, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, self-directed approach
  • Comfort engaging with executives, developers, institutional clients, and community stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development initiatives across target markets, including outreach, networking, and strategic partnership cultivation
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new project opportunities aligned with the firm's goals
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
  • Collaborate with leadership to shape market strategy and growth plans
  • Support proposal development, interviews, and presentations with compelling storytelling and design insight
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
  • Work closely with design teams to ensure client needs and project goals are clearly communicated
  • Provide mentorship and staff development to the Texas Engineering Team
  • Assist Texas Engineering Team members with design solutions and quality assurance on client projects
