Engineering Program Manager

Mach Industries•Huntington Beach, CA
•$160,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Mach Industries is seeking an Engineering Program Manager (EPM) to manage the programmatic execution of a vehicle program. The EPM owns schedule tracking, risk and issue management, review cadence, and cross-functional coordination, allowing the Chief Engineer to focus on technical authority. The role serves as the Chief Engineer’s execution counterpart, identifying schedule and resourcing risks early, keeping Department Heads and the Capability Development Manager (CDM) informed, and ensuring commitments to leadership and customers align with program schedules and risk data. The EPM tracks and reports program schedule, risks, dependencies, metrics, and KPIs; manages the timeline for SRR, CODR, PDR, and CDR reviews; and tracks program cost and budget alongside Finance. The role coordinates across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Staffing, and provides accurate consolidated updates to company leadership, the Growth team, and customers. The EPM also coordinates with the CDM to align customer-facing commitments with internal schedules, routes scope or resourcing changes to the appropriate Department Head for review, and supports escalation of unresolved schedule or resourcing risks. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations. The position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, and an employment offer may be conditioned on authorization to receive controlled software or technology without sponsorship for an export license. The role requires extended hours and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in program or project management for a hardware, engineering, or technical product, ideally involving multiple concurrent workstreams and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Ability to build and maintain schedule, risk, and dependency tracking that technical leadership trusts and uses.
  • Ability to surface schedule slips and risks early rather than delaying or obscuring them.
  • Strong cross-functional coordination experience with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance stakeholders.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate program-tracking detail into concise leadership updates.
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in aerospace, defense, or another regulated hardware industry with formal design-review gates such as SRR, CODR, PDR, CDR, or equivalents.
  • Experience partnering directly with a technical architecture owner, such as a Chief Engineer, as an execution counterpart without owning technical decisions.
  • Experience coordinating with a customer-facing or account-management counterpart to align external and internal timelines.
  • Familiarity with formal risk and issue register tools and structured schedule-tracking methods such as critical path or earned value.
  • Experience navigating scope or resourcing conflicts jointly with technical and departmental leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day vehicle-program mechanics, including schedule tracking, risk and issue registers, review cadence, and cross-functional coordination logistics.
  • Own program tracking and reporting for schedules, risks, dependencies, metrics, and KPIs.
  • Manage the program timeline for SRR, CODR, PDR, and CDR reviews; content ownership remains with the Chief Engineer and Responsible Engineers.
  • Track overall program cost and budget alongside Finance.
  • Surface schedule and resourcing risks to the Chief Engineer and relevant Department Heads as soon as they become visible in tracking data.
  • Coordinate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Staffing for a vehicle program.
  • Provide consolidated, accurate program status updates to company leadership, the Growth team, and customers.
  • Coordinate with the Capability Development Manager to keep customer-facing commitments aligned with internal schedule tracking.
  • Route scope changes or additional resourcing requests to the relevant Department Head for review before reflecting them in the schedule.
  • Jointly escalate unresolved schedule or resourcing risks with the Chief Engineer and Department Head, providing supporting data.

Benefits

  • Health insurance, including healthcare, dental, and vision plans.
  • Retirement savings plans.
  • Paid time off.
  • Funds for continuing education, training, and career growth.
  • Performance-based incentives tied to individual and company performance.
  • Stock options or equity participation.
