About The Position

The AIML team is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to support and implement its strategy for the ethical and safe deployment of machine learning models. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies, standards, and processes aligned with Apple’s values, and to establish a safety lifecycle for machine learning models. The program manager helps build a culture of technology responsibility, encourages transparency, and mitigates risks associated with developing machine learning models. The position coordinates and drives early engagement on product architecture, feature definition, and program execution with a Responsible AI (Safety) focus, partnering with all relevant organizations. It requires program management experience shipping machine-learning-driven products and the ability to influence across organizational levels. The role provides program communication, facilitates engineering and design alignment, manages plans and risks, drives delivery, and coordinates resolution of issues and cross-functional dependencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, timely, objective communication, including regular program status updates and critical issues for the executive team.
  • Coordinate discussions and break down complex issues into topics that drive engineering and design alignment, supporting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Create and manage project timelines, dependencies, critical paths, and systematic status communications.
  • Manage risks and mitigations, re-plan as needed, and drive alignment across the organization and between teams.
  • Drive on-time delivery and deployment by identifying development and feasibility needs and establishing checkpoints and status updates.
  • Proactively identify issues and solutions and marshal resources to resolve them.
  • Coordinate with teams to identify issues, prioritize tasks, and track schedule and product-quality risks, including cross-functional dependencies.
  • Coordinate and drive early engagement on product architecture, feature definition, and program execution for Responsible AI (Safety).
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to develop and implement policies, standards, and processes for the safety lifecycle of machine-learning models.
