About The Position

Keytronic is seeking an Engineering Production Technician for a temporary contract position with an initial duration of six months. This role involves performing highly technical mechanical and electromechanical assembly of low-volume, high-complexity products in support of engineering production. The technician will be responsible for precision assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, and validation of complex assemblies. This role requires close collaboration with engineering and production leadership to ensure builds meet design intent, quality standards, and functional requirements, while also providing feedback to improve manufacturability and repeatability. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, manufacturing, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical assembly, production, or engineering support environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in technical environments.
  • Experience using hand tools, precision measurement tools, and basic test equipment.
  • Ability to document work and communicate technical findings clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electromechanical assemblies (wiring, sensors, actuators, etc.).
  • Background in low-volume, high-mix or prototype/engineering production environments.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, tolerances, and precision alignment techniques.
  • Experience with soldering and ESD-controlled work environments.
  • Basic machining or fabrication experience (mill, lathe, drill press, etc.).
  • Experience collaborating directly with engineering teams.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, Vietnamese, and/or Chinese.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision mechanical and electromechanical assembly of complex systems and subassemblies.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
  • Execute system-level integration including alignment, fitting, fastening, and component installation.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical assembly issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform rework, repairs, and adjustments to meet engineering and quality requirements.
  • Conduct functional testing, validation, and verification of assembled products.
  • Support prototype builds and transition of designs into repeatable low-volume production.
  • Provide feedback to engineering regarding design issues, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturability improvements.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, tapping, and minor machining as required.
  • Execute soldering and wiring tasks following proper workmanship and ESD-safe practices.
  • Maintain accurate build records, documentation, and quality traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to assembly processes and documentation.
  • Support cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Performs other duties when required that are outside of normal job duties.
