About The Position

Toyota’s Production Engineering Paint Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to evaluate and plan automation innovation, evaluate and test paint new technologies. Additionally, track Toyota’s carbon neutrality targets within the paint shops and set standards both for new technology and environmental targets with standardization across the NAMCs. Reporting to the Equipment Planning Group Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Paint PE department's objective to trial equipment for new vehicle projects and technologies to meet Toyota’s goals to include but not limited to CPU reduction, quality improvements and environmental targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience in Toyota engineering or technical role
  • 2+ years of experience with equipment bidding, specification, and evaluation
  • 2+ years of Toyota new equipment installation and start-up experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • Ability to identify project restrictions and develop effective countermeasures
  • Experience with CAD, 3D Inventor, or similar modeling software
  • Ability to evaluate CPU impact and implement reduction activities
  • Experience creating A3 and/or Ringi documents for equipment procurement

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual: English / Japanese
  • 2+ years PLC experience and knowledge
  • MSRC and or Machine Risk Analysis Experience
  • 2+ years implementing CoHE standards and using Kanban
  • 2+ years of experience in automation and/or robot programming
  • Experience with vision system evaluation, programming, and use cases
  • Experience with paint shop booths, ovens, abatement systems, air houses, and enclosures
  • Experience in equipment maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Support evaluation of innovative equipment project proposals, including process and equipment capability assessments
  • Develop strategies and lead implementation for North American equipment testing and evaluation in lab and plant environments
  • Create presentations and reports to communicate project status and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Become an expert in multiple paint shop technologies and systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve goals
  • Develop standards and (RJ) documents for new technologies and improve specifications for equipment, ensuring CoHE compliance and cross-NAM standardization
  • Provide cross-functional support to the E&F 2050 group to meet environmental targets
  • Lead supplier development activities with Purchasing to improve bids, specifications, and development processes
  • Coach and develop junior members in the group
