About The Position

This role involves supporting the operations of powerful data centers by maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems. As an Engineering Operations Technician II (EOT II) at AWS, you will work with sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers, testing and implementing new technology and work practices to meet market demands. The team has a passion for learning and evolving, aiming to be industry leaders.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in relevant work
  • Can bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
  • Can use hands to manipulate small wires and objects
  • Can walk on job sites in uneven terrain
  • Can work at heights and from ladders

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of data center engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/ fiber) cabling
  • Experience in data center engineering
  • Can perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired

Responsibilities

  • Driving innovation while reducing operational costs in facilities.
  • Driving projects with moderate complexity.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Performing rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings, and facility management.
  • Providing key performance indicators to senior engineers.
  • On-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  • Performance and oversight of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
  • Ensuring all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  • Performing basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management creation, writing procedures, and building management systems.
  • Maintaining data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring 99.999% uptime.
  • Supporting more than one location/site.
  • Walking job sites in uneven terrain.
  • Maintaining balance and performing construction tasks while on a ladder.
  • Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 39 pounds unassisted and participating in group lifts for 40+ pounds.
  • Regularly walking, using hands and fingers, handling or feeling, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
