About The Position

This role is for an Engineering Manager within the Landing Page Builder Group at a well-established Canadian SaaS company. The company specializes in landing pages and conversion optimization, serving a broad customer base including enterprise accounts with two core platforms: a landing page builder and a CRM with marketing automation. The company is undergoing a strategic transformation to become an AI-first product organization, with an internal MCP server ready for Alpha release and an AI-powered landing page builder in active development. The Engineering Manager will be the operational and people leader for the LPB group, focusing on execution rather than strategy setting. They will translate the CTO's architectural direction into sprint work, ensure team accountability for delivery, and foster the necessary engineering culture for scaling. This role involves close collaboration with the CTO, VP of Product, other Engineering Managers, and the Director of Data & AI/ML Engineering. Senior technical leadership will provide support during onboarding to the AI Builder workstream. The team consists of approximately 7 full-time engineers and embedded external developers across two workstreams: the existing Builder product and the AI Builder, with the team composition expected to evolve.

Requirements

  • 7–12 years of engineering experience, with 3+ years managing teams of 8 or more in a SaaS product environment
  • Proven track record leading engineering teams through a legacy-to-modern product transition: parallel workstreams, deprecation planning, and shipping new product alongside active maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience shipping AI-powered or agentic features in production — not proofs of concept, but features customers actively use
  • Experience managing hybrid teams of full-time staff and embedded vendor or contractor developers, with accountability for standards, knowledge transfer, and clean offboarding
  • Track record of developing senior engineers into technical leaders
  • Modern engineering discipline: Agile and Scrum done properly, CI/CD maturity, code review culture, observable velocity and delivery predictability
  • Comfortable working alongside a CTO in a clear division of responsibilities — executing on direction and pushing back credibly when needed
  • Enough technical depth to earn credibility and make informed design decisions
  • Fluent in agile delivery, knows when to run the process and when to cut it
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI/ML tooling in a product integration context
  • Understands CI/CD, observability, and what production-ready actually means
  • Can read and reason about code, but not expected to ship it

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate the Landing Page Builder group into one coherent unit with a shared sprint board, shared priorities, and a single delivery cadence.
  • Implement Agile and Scrum practices that drive real behavioural change, owning story sizing, sprint commitments, burndowns, and retrospectives.
  • Build structured development plans for engineers, invest in growing senior engineers into technical leaders, provide consistent feedback, and create conditions for expanded ownership.
  • Manage a team spanning engineers and external vendor developers, holding all contributors to the same standards, managing the near-term vendor transition cleanly, and ensuring knowledge transfer is prioritized.
  • Partner with the CTO to translate architectural direction into shippable sprint work for the AI-native product.
  • Balance delivery across the existing Builder and the AI Builder simultaneously, managing prioritization tension with clear judgment.
  • Serve as a credible engineering voice in planning conversations with Product and senior leadership, providing clear engineering input into roadmap conversations.
