About The Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the preventative maintenance program of the hotel, which includes repairs and upkeep of the hotel and building operations. The manager will serve as the primary point person with hotel operations and be the point of contact for duty engineers in daily operations. This individual will be responsible for managing the engineering team, assets, and inventory timely; directing and coordinating to perform routine, preventive and emergency interior and exterior maintenance and repairs to obtain optimum efficiency and standards, within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor / Diploma degree in Mechanical / Electrical or Civil engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience and 3 years supervisory or manager experience in Hotel Engineering department.
  • Advanced knowledge of facility management / engineering with positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Extensive knowledge in electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Conversant in: Hotel fire procedures, Hotel and Company Security procedures, Hotel Health and Safety policy and procedures
  • Install, maintain, perform preventative maintenance on, and recommend replacement of tools, appliances, and equipment. Ensuring spare parts are monitored and stocks are maintained at required level.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical repairs, refrigeration systems, and the ability to work within several software programs as needed for this position.
  • Working with leadership and the coordinator of the engineering department for tracking and billing of all needed repair requests.
  • Managing parts inventory for the appliances serviced by the engineering department.
  • Assist management in training and motivating colleagues.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other colleagues.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; and identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
  • Conducting morning meeting and allocate jobs to Engineers.
  • Responding to guest requests as a priority
  • Ensuring guest requests are followed up and updated.
  • Monitoring service standards in all areas of the operation in keeping with the highest guest expectations.
  • Owning all guest complaints in the absence of all the Director, if guest wishes to speak to the Manager on Duty
  • Focus on prevention of issues and maintain a high level of attention to detail to anticipate guest needs and potential issues, resolving them before they occur.
  • Directing, implementing, and maintaining a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective colleagues.
  • Maximizing the financial performance of the hotel by providing the highest possible guest service and product
