About The Position

BlueScope Coated Products is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to provide leadership for process engineering across seven coil coating lines. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple production lines and driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, reliability, and overall performance through effective engineering leadership and collaboration. The Engineering Manager develops a thorough understanding of BCP coating line processes and applies that knowledge to identify improvement opportunities, support operational excellence, and sustain performance gains. This role works closely with the Director of Engineering and internal and external technical experts to benchmark best practices, assess performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. This is a highly hands-on, field-based leadership position requiring regular and sustained presence on the shop floor to observe operations & teams, directly support troubleshooting, and leading overall project execution and implementation. The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring engineering solutions are effectively designed, implemented, integrated into plant operations, and sustained over time. This position requires extensive travel (>75%) across all 7 BCP locations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline)
  • Minimum of 10 years in a heavy manufacturing industrial environment within a plant or maintenance capacity
  • 3+ years people leading within engineering or technical teams with demonstrated ability to lead in a hands-on, plant-floor environment
  • Direct experience in coil coating or paint line operations. Galvalume / Galvanizing experience is acceptable.
  • Proven experience working in continuous processing environments (coating, metals, or similar high-speed lines).
  • Experience working directly with electrical, mechanical, and controls troubleshooting in a manufacturing
  • Strong background in commissioning, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Strong experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, including ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCs, Studio 5000, PowerFlex AC/DC drives, and exposure to other PLC and drive platforms; demonstrated capability working with industrial drives, motor control systems, and HMI/SCADA solutions in a manufacturing environment
