  • Approximately 7+ years of progressively responsible mechanical engineering experience, preferably in industrial machinery, process equipment, engineered-to-order equipment, or other large capital equipment.
  • Strong foundation in practical machine design, including structures, rotating equipment, power transmission, bearings, shafts, fabricated assemblies, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience designing equipment for fabrication, machining, assembly, installation, operation, and servicing.
  • Experience with welded and machined components and an understanding of practical manufacturing methods.
  • Strong 3D CAD capabilities; SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Prior engineering leadership, supervision, or substantial mentoring experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal management experience.
  • Accomplished senior or lead engineer with demonstrated ability and desire to develop people and take broader ownership of an engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Review designs and challenge engineers to ensure a deep understanding of their work.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, development plans, and career growth paths for the team.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop future engineering talent.
  • Foster an environment of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership for engineered-to-order industrial mixing, milling, and dispersing equipment.
  • Guide projects from initial concept through detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and startup.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews covering safety, structural integrity, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, reliability, and customer requirements.
  • Offer hands-on engineering support for complex design or manufacturing challenges.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Assembly, Quality, Purchasing, and Service departments to ensure successful equipment delivery.
  • Improve engineering workflow, scheduling, workload visibility, and project prioritization.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards, procedures, checklists, and best practices.
  • Enhance drawing, BOM, design-review, release, and change-control processes.
  • Identify opportunities for standardization of designs while maintaining customization capabilities.
  • Improve engineering quality and reduce errors, rework, and production issues.
  • Introduce tools, technology, automation, and processes to increase engineer productivity.
  • Establish and utilize engineering metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Balance immediate operational needs with the long-term development of a scalable engineering organization.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work on complete industrial machines and systems.
  • Ability to see designs being fabricated, machined, assembled, wired, tested, and prepared for shipment.
  • Direct work with company leadership.
  • Meaningful authority to improve the engineering organization.
  • Opportunity to leave a lasting mark on equipment, engineers, and engineering systems.
