About The Position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our Energy & Utilities Telecom team in our Charlotte, NC office. This individual will be a key leader in our Telecommunications Team, responsible for driving technical excellence, mentoring staff, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex utility and telecom projects throughout the region.

Requirements

Typically, 10+ years of experience in engineering design and project management, with a focus on telecommunications, utilities, or transportation infrastructure.
At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity, managing technical teams and project workflows.
Experience with utility relocation projects, conflict analysis, or utility coordination.
Strong knowledge of local and state permitting processes and utility regulations in North Carolina.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to lead meetings and represent the firm professionally.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license, with the ability to obtain North Carolina licensure within 6 months of hire.
Established network within the North Carolina utility or telecom industry.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bluebeam from a management and review perspective.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers and technical staff in the Charlotte office.
Provide high-level technical direction and quality control for the planning, design, and permitting of telecommunications and utility projects.
Oversee a portfolio of projects to ensure they are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client specifications and regulatory requirements.
Partner with leadership to identify business development opportunities in the Southeast market and contribute to the development of proposals, including project scope and fee estimates.
Maintain and strengthen client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for technical inquiries and project updates.
Review engineering plans and ensure all work products meet industry standards and firm-wide quality benchmarks.
