This includes smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and user behavior to generate, shift, or save energy. The goal is to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable, which creates clean energy capacity and reduces reliance on fossil fuels. Uplight's solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers. The company is seeking an Engineering Manager to grow a high-performing engineering team and build technology that accelerates the clean energy revolution. This role focuses on delivering high-impact software, developing people, and fostering a healthy team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 11 individuals across 2 teams to help utilities adopt greener energy practices.
  • Be customer-focused and drive data-driven decisions (DORA, delivery metrics, user feedback, system reliability) to improve the technology stack.
  • Balance technical trade-offs with business needs to iteratively deliver solutions.
  • Contribute to product choices, team direction, and engineering staff investment.
  • Demonstrate empathy for customers, users, and colleagues.
  • Coach and guide team members to foster their career growth.
  • Build in a Databricks environment on AWS and contribute to technical strategy decisions.
  • Share the technical vision with the team, customers, and the wider organization.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of systems to improve software development.
