About The Position

Nova is building the banking and payments network for private markets. Funds, fund administrators, and their investors use its software to manage subscriptions, capital calls, and distributions. Today, Nova supports $1.2B+ in deposits, $100M+ in weekly transfers across six bank integrations, and ~150k verified investors. These are some of the highest-stakes moments in the private markets. Fund managers, investors, and administrators are moving real money and expect every detail to be right. Nova earns and keeps the trust of GPs and LPs by meeting that expectation every time. We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow Nova Product. This team owns the TypeScript codebase for the entire customer experience, including subscriptions, data rooms, distributions, capital calls, and the emerging LP wallet and investor portal. This is a hands-on, player-coach role. You'll spend most of your time growing the team, driving the roadmap with product and design partners, and setting the technical vision. You'll stay close enough to the code to unblock and support the team, but you typically won't write critical-path code. As the Product group grows, you'll help shape how it is organized. You'll report to the Head of Nova Engineering.

Requirements

2+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring, developing, and getting the best work from engineers.
A record of shipping and scaling customer-facing products, ideally in complex domains where quality is critical. You care about the user experience and pay attention to the details.
Experience building in an environment with high stakes and strict compliance requirements, where every detail matters. Experience with fintech, payments, or identity and KYC is a bonus.
Experience with a modern TypeScript stack, or the ability to learn it quickly.
Good startup judgment. You're comfortable with ambiguity and add enough process to help the team without over-building it.

Responsibilities

Own the results of a Nova Product team responsible for the product experience across subscriptions, data rooms, distributions, capital calls, and the LP wallet and portal.
Grow the team from ~4 engineers to 5-7 and help shape the structure of the broader Product group as it scales.
Work closely with Product, Design, stakeholders, and the Foundations engineering teams to make progress against the roadmap.
Set a clear technical direction with the team's senior and staff engineers.
Maintain a high standard of quality across workflows with high stakes and strict compliance requirements, where real money and investor identity are on the line.
Stay hands-on where it helps. Unblock the team and maintain enough technical context to ask good questions and make sound tradeoffs.
