About The Position

Wabash Castings, LLC, A Division of Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their engineering team and drive the company's future in advanced aluminum casting. This role requires an engineer who is hands-on, involved in problem-solving, process improvement, new product development, and turning ideas into tangible products. Wabash Castings specializes in complex aluminum casting for the automotive, heavy truck, construction/off-highway, and recreation markets, with engineering capabilities spanning casting design, tooling, core making, heat treatment, machining, and quality assurance. The company is part of Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, which has over 115 years of manufacturing experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5–10 years of engineering experience, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading people, projects and/or engineering functions
  • Working knowledge of engineering software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations and customers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tools such as Unigraphics NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Minitab and Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Engineering Department
  • Establish department goals and allocate resources
  • Lead new product development and production projects
  • Develop manufacturing processes and tooling
  • Own and support gating and rigging design
  • Utilize simulation and engineering software to solve casting and manufacturing challenges
  • Lead and support continuous improvement and capital projects
  • Oversee program management and product validation
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality and other functions to solve problems
  • Serve as a technical liaison with customers during new product development
  • Own engineering change control
  • Train and mentor Engineering and Manufacturing team members
  • Have the authority to stop production or shipment when necessary to address a quality concern
  • Help Wabash continually improve its technology, processes and engineering capabilities
