About The Position

The Phoenix Division of Northstar Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity in its Engineering organization. We are seeking a dynamic individual to play an integral role in developing, driving and supporting our business goals. The right candidate should have a proven track record of providing leadership and expertise in the application of engineering activities. This position is in Northstar’s Engineering Department, and reports to the VP/GM of Phoenix. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and is responsible for direct or indirect supervision of up to approximately 15 employees.

Requirements

• Excellent leadership and management abilities
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong computer skills are required. Microsoft Office products used on a daily basis
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality System, and SPC tools
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• A minimum of a four-year technical degree such as a BSIE or BSME or equivalent experience.
• 15 years’ experience in manufacturing, business development, program management, production control, and finance is desired.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the aerospace industry is ideal, preferably with most of the experience in a tight tolerance aerospace manufacturing machine shop with gears as its core competency.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the engineering staff ensuring they provide the necessary technical support to manufacturing and quality to achieve division objectives.
• Ensure that all manufacturing special processes and tooling conform to customer, organizational, and governmental standards.
• Direct the development of new manufacturing processes and the revision of existing processes to facilitate the improved manufacturing of parts.
• Develop, coach and mentor team of engineers to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence.
• Manages software control
• Provide evaluation and disposition of discrepant material
