Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree – Chemical Engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in highly-hazardous chemical operational environment required
  • 5 years of combined experience in Process Engineering and/or Operations required.
  • 3 years previous management experience in Process Engineering or Operations in highly hazardous chemical plant required
  • Technical and/or Operations experience in batch surfactant processes is a plus
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to innovate and solve complex problems
  • Experience in complex and integrated petrochemical plant/process technology
  • Demonstrated formal and informal leadership roles
  • Detailed knowledge of PSM elements and application of those elements in a plant environment
  • Detailed knowledge of hazard analysis and LOPA work processes
  • Knowledge of the capabilities and options for modeling, process simulation and engineering software.
  • Working knowledge of DCS and PLC systems and control applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams to take an idea from concept to startup.
  • Ability to work and relate well with operation, maintenance, lab and other non-degree personnel in a union environment.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal (including listening) and presentation communication skills
  • Good organization skills, knowledge of project management
  • Must have a level of proficiency with SAP, Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain expertise related to specific chemical processes and application of those processes to chemical unit operations.
  • Implement improvements to existing chemical plant processes in areas of yield improvement, raw materials reduction, increased throughput, process reliability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and unit process safety.
  • Manage a team of Process and Process Control Engineers to drive improvements in throughput, efficiency, yield improvement, sustainability efforts, environmental compliance, and provide assistance and mentorship to the unit Process Engineers.
  • FEL package development, including commissioning and startup plan/requirements, and support role for the detailed engineering/project execution phase of capital projects.
  • Ensuring capital project scopes are in alignment with the business need and justification.
  • Continuous development of technical competency of engineers and operational personnel for highly hazardous chemical processes
  • Maintain and develop expertise in surfactant technology
  • Key management role for driving process improvement and efficiency for selected plants
  • Key technical manager for driving compliance with all aspects of PSM in areas of responsibility
  • Ensures adequate engineering support for development of Commissioning/Start-up plans, procedures and execution
  • Ensures adequate engineering support for development and review of equipment specifications, engineering calculations, relief device design and calculations, flare header design/sizing, etc. This includes use of ASPEN and other modeling programs as needed.
  • Ensures adequate engineering support for Process Safety Management reviews and provide support for recommendations from Hazard Reviews, LOPA, IPL, SIS requirements, MOC, PSSR, etc.
  • Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals.
  • Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
  • Participates in and completes company required training programs.
