About The Position

TrashLab is the AI agent and system-of-action platform for waste haulers and recyclers across the US and Canada. We run the whole operational stack: phones, CRM, dispatch and routing, billing, scale and recycling workflows, the driver app, and the customer portal. Our AI agents already do real work in the truck, at the scale house, and on the phones. It's a $100B+ industry still running on software 1.0. We're moving it to software 3.0, the fully agentic enterprise. We're growing 3x year over year, live in 40+ states, rebuilding the category from the ground up.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Roughly 70% of the job is managing agents, 30% managing people. On the agent side you run a fleet to ship features, design the workflows they run in, make the architecture calls, and review their output. On the people side you coach and manage a distributed team, and act as a sharp technical partner to the CTO.

It's built for an EM or tech lead manager who wants to get more hands-on, not less. If management pulled you away from building, agents put you back in it while the team keeps scaling.

Requirements

• You already run 10+ agents to build and research, daily.
• You've managed engineers as an EM or tech lead manager, and want to get more hands-on.
• You're a sharp engineer, not a manager who stopped coding.
• You dive into the details and drive the business outcomes.
• You coach engineers well and people want to work for you.
• You've managed a distributed team across time zones.

Nice To Haves

• Vertical SaaS, logistics, or billing.
• Real-time or high-reliability systems: dispatch, telephony, payments.
• Built agent workflows into a production product.
• TypeScript/Node and Postgres. Our stack.
• Early-stage startup experience.

Responsibilities

• Run a fleet of agents to build, research, and ship in production.
• Design the agent workflows the team builds in, and keep improving them.
• Own architecture and code quality, including what the agents produce.
• Partner with the CTO to reimagine the software stack for the agentic world.
• Own delivery: what ships, when, and how good it is.
• Coach and grow the engineers on the team.
• Keep a distributed team across the Americas and Europe shipping.
