About The Position

This role is responsible for managing the engineering department, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management of staff. The position involves troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring guest satisfaction by responding to requests and maintaining hotel standards. The Engineering Manager also coordinates service contracts, implements maintenance programs, assists with capital planning, and participates in safety and energy improvement initiatives. Clear communication and adherence to attendance policies are essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
  • Ability to respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to communicate with hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
  • Ability to service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
  • Ability to maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, and gardening).
  • Ability to maintain franchise standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies.
  • Ability to coordinate compliance of service contracts.
  • Ability to implement and maintain Crescent’s preventative maintenance program.
  • Ability to implement and maintain Crescent’s room care programs.
  • Ability to implement and maintain Crescent’s engineering department minimum standards.
  • Ability to assist General Manager with annual Capital Plan development.
  • Ability to actively participate in Crescent’s Safety Plan and energy improvements.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Ability to comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform any other job related duties as assigned
