About The Position

Clipboard is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead high-impact engineering teams focused on building core components of their marketplace and internal systems. Engineering Managers at Clipboard are expected to remain technically engaged, even if not coding daily. The role requires balancing technical direction, execution, and people development within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. A key aspect of the role is fostering consistent team output while coaching and mentoring engineers for career growth. This position operates at the intersection of engineering, product, and operations, demanding clear decision-making amidst shifting priorities and trade-offs. Strong judgment and prioritization skills are essential for focusing the team on impactful outcomes and effectively breaking down work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact engineering teams building core parts of the marketplace and internal systems.
  • Stay close to the engineering work to understand technical direction, execution, and people development.
  • Coach and mentor engineers to support their career growth.
  • Make clear decisions when situations are unclear and keep the team focused on priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong judgment and prioritization skills to drive results.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Work closely with product and operations teams.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to solve complex marketplace and operational problems.
  • Help maintain a high technical and execution bar across the team.
  • Understand how engineers think, challenge ideas when needed, and create an environment for high-quality work.
  • Drive outcomes in their area of product experience end-to-end.
  • Lead experimental strike teams focused on high-priority, greenfield initiatives requiring fast execution and strong ownership.
