About The Position

Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, a division of Nucor, the nation's largest recycler and largest manufacturer of steel and steel products, is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Engineering Manager at our business unit located in Rock Hill, SC. This role involves leading a team of Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers to provide quotes, designs, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, or other utility structures, primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories. The position reports to the Director of the Engineering Department. Key responsibilities include interviewing and hiring new team members, providing mentorship, coaching, and accountability, ensuring consistent application of design policies and procedures, managing team priorities, and guiding the team to deliver quality work on time. The Engineering Manager will also be active within the Division leadership team to drive continuous improvement, support the sales team through customer interactions, and make decisions with other engineering leaders to provide safe and competitive product designs. Travel is required for customer visits, plant support, and trade shows. Safety is paramount, and candidates must demonstrate the ability to uphold safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership experience
  • 2+ years of utility pole/tower structures industry experience
  • 2+ years steel products design or structural steel connection design experience
  • Degree specifically with Structural emphasis
  • Master’s degree in engineering or business
  • Willing to relocate for future advancement opportunities within Nucor

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers to provide quotes, designs, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, or other utility structures; primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories.
