About The Position

Arteria AI is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a small team focused on building core product features for their AI-powered documentation platform. This role involves rebuilding document discovery surfaces, modernizing the document editor, and integrating AI features. The ideal candidate is a product-focused, technically credible leader who can develop team members, make difficult decisions, and collaborate with Engineering Leadership, Product, Design, and AI Research to set technical direction and deliver features. The team's work directly impacts the daily user experience on the Arteria platform.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally leading a team of 5–10 engineers.
  • Product-focused mindset, motivated by solving real user problems.
  • Strong technical judgment with credibility to guide architecture and design decisions in a modern web/SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in architecture and a track record of simplifying systems.
  • Proven people-leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, levelling, and performance management.
  • Comfortable making and communicating difficult decisions.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI's impact on software development and a desire to leverage AI tooling.
  • Experience in an early-stage, fast-growing environment with a focus on building structure.
  • Hands-on coding ability is a plus.

  • Experience working in or with financial institutions, fintech, or other regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5–6 engineers to ship product features predictably.
  • Manage the team's talent lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, growth conversations, levelling, and development plans.
  • Identify and nurture high-potential engineers for future leadership roles.
  • Make timely and fair performance-management decisions, including difficult conversations, with care and consistency.
  • Foster a team culture of high standards, low ego, and clear feedback.
  • Guide technical decision-making, ensuring appropriate designs, trade-offs, and sequencing.
  • Act as a credible technical partner, contributing hands-on where it adds leverage.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Leadership and senior leaders to simplify platform architecture and reduce complexity.
  • Improve engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, on-call practices, and managing technical debt.
  • Partner with Product and Design on rebuilding document discovery surfaces, modernizing the document editor, and integrating AI features.
  • Translate roadmap priorities into clear work plans with realistic timelines, scoped milestones, and honest risk communication.
  • Drive predictable execution by keeping the team focused, unblocking issues, and protecting them from churn.
  • Ensure quality outcomes for team deliverables, including reliability, performance, and user experience.
  • Explore and champion the adoption of AI tools to augment developer productivity.
  • Coach the team on effective use of AI-assisted workflows.
  • Share best practices for AI in the development lifecycle with engineering peers.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to ensure alignment on user problems and project goals.
  • Partner with AI Research and the broader Engineering organization on shared capabilities.
  • Engage with Customer Success and Professional Services to incorporate client feedback into prioritization.
