WorkWhile is looking for an Engineering Manager to help lead our growing Engineering team. You'll manage and mentor a small team while staying hands-on with architecture and technical strategy. As an early leader on the team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping WorkWhile’s engineering culture, driving technical excellence, and contributing to company-wide strategy as we scale. This role reports into our Head of Engineering.

Requirements

2+ years of experience managing engineers. Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain world-class engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and impact.
Strong hands-on experience with shipping production software and modern web technologies—React, TypeScript, Python/Flask, Postgres (or similar stacks).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills—you’re comfortable working cross-functionally and making tradeoffs with product/design and other stakeholders.
Experience building growth features, internal tools, or working in marketplace or B2B SaaS contexts.

Responsibilities

Drive execution on key product initiatives and outcomes—from shaping technical direction to delivering high-quality user-facing features.
Be a force multiplier, leading, managing and growing a small team of engineers, while strategically hiring and evolving the team as we scale.
Work with leadership to align engineering priorities with company-wide OKRs and shape long-term product and technical strategy.
Champion engineering best practices and be a steward of code quality, system design, and technical decision-making. Operate with a balance of coaching and hands-on involvement.
