About The Position

Arcade is seeking an Engineering Manager for Runtime and Platform to lead a team responsible for building, maintaining, and deploying the core runtime that enables AI agents to securely interact with enterprise systems. This is a critical role in a fast-growing Series A startup, focused on scaling the team and platform that powers AI actions in production environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with both large-scale SaaS deployments and on-premise solutions, a passion for AI safety and governance, and strong leadership skills to mentor and grow a team of senior engineers. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction, roadmap, and execution of the platform, ensuring reliability, security, and enterprise readiness as Arcade leads the AI revolution.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • 2+ years in engineering leadership
  • Proven success managing and scaling high-performing teams
  • Deep experience deploying and monitoring software both as a SaaS platform and on-prem
  • Strong architectural instincts and ability to align technical direction with business outcomes
  • Passion for building frameworks that empower other developers
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional leadership
  • A desire to use LLMs/AI throughout all parts of the software development lifecycle, and to teach others how to do that well
  • An insatiable desire to ship and continuously improve
  • Comfortable with large-scale SaaS deployments
  • Invested in the AI revolution and have strong opinions on what it means to roll out safe AI products at scale

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and deploy the runtime that customers use to run, manage, secure, and understand AI tools and abilities.
  • Scale the engineering team responsible for the development of the platform and services, including MCP gateways, multi-tenant features, roles and permissions, and the platform-as-service for tool executions.
  • Level-up the team, ensure they are unblocked, and align their work with the product organization.
  • Stay technically engaged through code reviews, critical-path contributions, and occasional hands-on coding.
  • Manage a team of 6 very senior engineers, with the goal of growing and splitting the team by the end of the year.
  • Define and deliver the next most important platform features for customers.
  • Ship high-impact features at scale while ensuring reliability, security, and enterprise readiness.
  • Build leverage into the system through automation and agents.
  • Contribute to evolving standards in the AI tools ecosystem, such as drafting changes to the MCP specification.
  • Ensure a consistent product vision and architecture for the team.
  • Help shape the team and company roadmap, taking primary ownership of technical direction, prioritization, and execution in partnership with Product and founders.
  • Hire and mentor talented engineers, helping shape their technical and career growth.
