About The Position

E+ES is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Rapid Electrification team with accountability for High-Voltage (HV) Electrical System Integration. This team owns electrical system design for L5 electric powertrains and L6 Electrified Machine Development across Resource Industries, Construction Industries, and Power & Energy segments. We support NPI, NTI, and Small Batch programs, including customer early learners, technology demonstrators, and advanced prototypes, in collaboration with E+ES component teams, machine product groups, and Cat Technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
  • Ability to design, build, troubleshoot, and deliver technical solutions within electrified machines
  • Extensive Experience: Leads and contributes hands‑on to design, development, integration, and validation activities.
  • Provides effective solutions to moderate and complex technical challenges through strong technical competence.
  • Engages subject matter experts as needed to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Mentors and coaches engineers to improve technical rigor, solution quality, and execution.
  • Assumes accountability for personal technical output and the technical quality of project outcomes.
  • Expert: Leads cross‑functional teams in product and system design and development efforts.
  • Contributes directly to design decisions, build activities, and engineering tradeoffs.
  • Develops and improves processes for product design, development, and delivery.
  • Advocates for new tools, technologies, and methods that enhance product development.
  • Anticipates future product, technology, and customer needs.
  • Extensive Experience: Plans, estimates, staffs, and monitors engineering projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates and executes mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Maintains transparency through regular project reviews and status communication.
  • Balances speed, quality, and cost when managing execution.
  • Applies and coaches effective project management tools and methodologies.
  • Working to Extensive Experience: Provides day‑to‑day technical leadership and guidance to project teams.
  • Coaches and mentors engineers and project team members to grow technical and professional skills.
  • Monitors team engagement and morale; recognizes contributions and achievements.
  • Participates in performance feedback and development planning discussions.

  • Extensive Experience: Leads investigation and resolution of difficult or high‑impact technical issues.

  • Ensures corrective actions are implemented and sustained.

Responsibilities

  • Leads high‑impact engineering initiatives from concept through delivery, owning technical execution, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Develops project scope and technical approach to address business challenges and opportunities.
  • Serves as hands‑on technical leader, contributing directly to design, implementation, integration, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
  • Oversees project progress, risks, and costs; communicates status to stakeholders and participating functional areas; proactively resolves issues.
  • Provides specialized engineering technical support and consulting services across the organization.
  • Directs project staffing; motivates, mentors, and develops project team members and emerging technical leaders.
  • Supports talent development through coaching, feedback, and performance discussions; contributes to staffing and development planning.
  • Ensures achievement of engineering plans while maintaining high standards of product quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
