About The Position

RM has been a pioneer in education technology since 1973, providing technology and resources to the education sector and supporting over 20 million students worldwide. The company operates through three divisions: Assessment, Technology, and TTS. Within the assessment market, RM specializes in digital assessment and marking solutions, managed services, hardware, and software for schools, and educational resources. They are experts in online exam testing, marking, and educational data management, working with government ministries, exam boards, and professional awarding bodies for high-stakes assessments. RM's software is used globally for on-screen tests and marking millions of paper-based scripts, and they have a decade-long partnership with leading awarding bodies for e-marking solutions. A BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) is applicable to this role, requiring appropriate security checks during recruitment. Requirements

Substantial professional experience with PHP
Prior experience in a technical leadership role
Proficiency in developing scalable software for large codebases
Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
Demonstrated commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Deep knowledge of at least one major cloud provider
Experience in designing, understanding, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
Solid understanding of Security, Networking, and Database concepts
Familiarity with standard project lifecycle processes
Proactive and inquisitive nature, willing to undertake various responsibilities
Proficiency in Docker
Highly skilled in clean code architecture, application and systems architecture, and other principles/methodologies such as SOLID and DDD
Upholds high standards for code quality, testing, and iterative, continuous delivery
Excellent collaboration skills for pair programming and code reviews
Experience owning a feature from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution
Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging high-volume production systems
